Step 1 |  How to play Poker ?

We are taking about a basic version of Poker here - Texas Hold'em. It's simple, fun and engaging! Each player starts with two cards hidden from others and then five community cards placed face-down in the middle. You take turns betting, checking, or folding during different rounds. Your goal is to make the best hand by combining your two cards with any of the three community cards, following a hierarchy of 10 such ranks. The player with the strongest hand wins the pot.

What is PokerMate ?

PokerMate is a very simple tool that helps you play, learn and win (conditional) Poker, by introducing you to the world of AI in a cards-game.  By looking at your hand of cards and the other cards on the table, which includes the 5 community cards as well as the number of players, it can predict how strong or weak is your hand and what's your best best. PokerMate is like your friendly poker buddy that makes playing and learning poker a breeze. Imagine you're at the poker table, and PokerMate, with its magic touch of AI, takes a peek at your cards and the ones on the table. It's like having a poker psychic! It not only figures out if your hand is a powerhouse or needs a little boost but also suggests your best move. It's like having your own poker mentor right there with you, guiding you through the game. With PokerMate, you've got a secret weapon to up your poker game and increase your chances of winning.

How to use this ?

PokerMate is really simple to use. Just go to its website on your phone or computer. Take a picture of your two cards and another one of the five cards on the table (or just one photo showing both), then upload them to the PokerMate website. Tell it how many players are in the game, and that's it - Voila! Once you hit the Submit button, your job is done! The computer magic in the background will figure out what cards you have and what combinations are possible. It will then tell you if you have a strong hand or a weak one. There's also a premium feature where you can say how many players folded or raised, and it will consider that too.

Do note this is only for a friendly game, and in no way meant for professional tables where using electronic devices are prohibited.

How does it work ?

PokerMate uses AI, more specifically a part of it which can differentiate between different things or objects, such as a vegetable in a fruit basket, or your card from a deck of 51 other cards. It's like teaching your computer to recognize and name things in pictures or videos. Think of it as making the computer see and understand what's in front of it, and based on it take a decision.

There are many ways to do this, and this project uses one such method to look at your image and understand what it means. Based on logic, it then decides your fate - the fate of your cards.
